The Association of Greek Art Historians organized a seminar by Nicos Hatjinikolaou on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Amphitheater of the Benaki Museum, 138 Pireos Street, Athens, Greece.
Professor Hatjinikolaou discussed the “discovery” of El Greco’s modernism during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; the reception of El Greco’s work in Toledo by his contemporaries; and he analyzed as case studies specific works by El Greco, such as Espolio and View and Plan of Toledo.
Nicos Hatjinikolaou is professor emeritus at the University of Crete, Greece.
The seminar was open to the public and was part of the Series of Lectures by Distinguished Art Historians organized by EEIT. It was delivered in Greek.
The organization of the seminar was supported by the Benaki Museum.
