The conference, with the theme “Suppressions, Falsifications, Reconsiderations”, aims to highlight issues concerning the developments in the science of art history from the 1970s onwards, which brought about a reconsideration of themes and methodological approaches. The main thrust is the critique of the traditional hierarchies of art history, as well as the exclusions and distortions these hierarchies produced. The 7th Conference focuses on the investigation of the ways in which art history discusses the above issues and how the terms of inclusion are shaped each time.
During the three-day proceedings of the 7th Conference, thirty-five papers will be presented by researchers, art historians, museologists, curators living in Greece or abroad. The conference is addressed not only to a special audience, but also to a wider public that in recent years has shown a strong interest in the history of art in Greece.
In the context of the 7th Conference, a hybrid session will be held in memory of Foteini Vlachou (1975-2017) entitled “Foteini Vlachou, in memoriam. Discussion on the book by Foteini Vlachou, The Disappointed Writer. Selected Essays, Lisbon, Saguão, 2019″.
